先週の土曜日はデビュー前から大物感たっぷりで注目されていたカジノドライヴが新馬戦に出走。兄ジャジル（父シーキングザゴールド）、姉ラグズトゥリッチーズ（父エーピーインディ）がベルモントＳを制している良血馬でこの馬も現地からオファーがありベルモントＳに出走するという。デビュー戦は日本で、その後はプリークネスＳからベルモントＳへと向かうローテーション。新馬戦を勝てなくても渡米すると藤沢和雄調教師は言っていたが、そんな心配は必要ないほどの強さでした。
レースは普通にゲートを出ると馬なりで２番手に。ハナを切ったクールフォーマがペースを落とすと外から交わして先頭に。あとは馬なりで進んで直線も追うことなく２着に２秒３差つける圧勝劇。調教よりも楽ではないかと思うほど淡々とレースを進めて勝ってしまった。これで、アメリカでの走りが楽しみになってきたが、アメリカの壁は厚いですからね。それでも、頑張って欲しいですね。
ちなみにデビュー戦（ダート1800ｍ）を１分５４秒５以内で走り、２着に２秒３以上の差を付けて勝った馬を調べてみると２０００年にデビューしたレギュラーメンバーと１９８６年にデビューしたツキノオージャの２頭だけでした。
